Dear Ms Mander-O’Beirne,

Please find attached a response to your recent freedom of information
request 18723.

Details of request:

These questions apply to ALL types of schools:

1.     How many requests has Surrey County Council received pertaining to
'admission of children outside their normal age group' from parents of
summer born children regarding entry into reception class at compulsory
school age for the school years 2018-2019 and 2019-2020 respectively?

2.     How many of these requests (for entry into Reception at Compulsory
School Age) have been granted for the school years 2018-2019 and 2019-2020
respectively?

3.     How many of these requests (for entry into Reception at Compulsory
School Age) have been refused for the school years 2018-2019 and 2019-2020
respectively?

Service response:

The figures in the table (below) show out of chronological year group
requests according to the child’s chronological year group and the year
group that has been requested. These figures relate to preferences for
schools as opposed to individual children.

*As a request may have been made for admission to multiple schools it is
possible for certain schools to agree a request while other may decline.
This is reflected in the Agreed and Declined column. It should also be
noted that an agreement does not mean that the child was subsequently
admitted, because this will depend on the oversubscription criteria. We
only record whether OOC is agreed in principle, not whether a place was
subsequently taken up.

Requested *Agreed
Chronological Year & Grand

5. How many of the granted requests (for entry into Reception at
Compulsory School Age) had Medical Issues (without a SEN) for the school
years 2018-2019 and 2019-2020 respectively?

Compulsory School Age) were for no other reason than the child was summer

This information is not recorded.

7. How many requests for entry into Reception at Compulsory School Age,
are still under consideration or going through a complaints process for
the school years 2018-2019 and 2019-2020 respectively?
