Dear Harriet,

Thank you for your email requesting information under the provisions of
the Freedom of Information Act, which we received on 9 July 2020. For ease
of reference, we will set out each of your requests followed by
our response.

An updated version of the annual station usage statistics for each Midland
Metro station that shows the total amount of entries and exits per station
per year, for the most recent 12 month period available.

Midland Metro Limited captures data about the usage of our network
which is monitored closely by the senior leadership team as well as the
Midland Metro Board and West Midlands Combined Authority as owners of the
network.

Data relating to the number of customers that travel with us is
collected through the ticket machines that are used by our customer
service representatives on board our trams and the door counters that are
fitted to every door on each of our trams.

Please find attached a document which has been updated to show the period
1 January 2019 to 31 December 2019, in order to provide you with a direct
comparison with the 2018 data that already available to you. The data
includes the number of passengers, recorded by the door counters, that
board and alight the tram at each of our stops. In December 2019, our
extension to Centenary Square was completed, adding two new stops to our
network (Town Hall and Library). Therefore, data is only available for one
month for these stops.

As an organisation, we do not actively record the number of passengers
according to the stop that they board and alight our tram and
therefore the accuracy of the data for each location is not verified.

I trust that I have provided the information that you have requested in
a suitable format. However, if you are dissatisfied with the way in which
we have handled your request, you have the right to ask us to review it.
You
should make your request for a review within 40 working days of receipt
of this letter, and we will provide our review within 20 working days
of receipt.

If, following review, you remain dissatisfied with the handling of
your request you have the right under section 50 of the Freedom of
Information Act 2000 to apply directly to the Information Commissioner for
a decision.

Generally, the Information Commissioner cannot make a decision unless
you have exhausted our review procedure. You can contact the
