Request for update on progress for Development Consent Order for Halite Energy for underground gas storage in Preesall

We're waiting for Claire Rimmer to read a recent response and update the status.

Dear Health and Safety Executive,

Halite Energy Group was granted a Development Consent Order (DCO) in July 2015 to develop 19 underground gas storage caverns in Preesall.

As part of the DCO safety reports are required to be submitted to “the competent authority” (i.e. the Health and Safety Executive and Environment Agency acting jointly) pursuant to the Control of Major Accident Hazards Regulations 1999, which will determine the final operational cavern layout and design.

Halite Energy have recently announced they intend to start building the infrastructure for this project from February 2018 with the first gas in the ground by 2020.

Under the Freedom of Information Act 2000, please provide me with copies of the following:

Copies of all correspondence, minutes of meetings, notes, reports, plans and e-mails between the Health and Safety Executive, their officials or employees, and any employees, officials or representatives of Halite Energy group, including any agencies acting on their behalf, in relation to the Preesall Underground Gas Storage project since July 2015.

I would be grateful if you would include any other determinations and any corresponding notes regarding this proposal which contributes in any way.

I understand that under the Act I am entitled to a response within 20 working days of your receipt of this request. Some parts of the request may be easier to answer than others. Should this be the case, I request that you release information as soon as possible.

If my request is denied in whole or in part, I ask that you justify all deletions by reference to specific exemptions of the act. I will also expect you to release all non-exempt material. I reserve the right to appeal your decision to withhold any information or to charge excessive fees.

I would like to receive the information as paper copies and electronically.

If you require any clarification, I expect you to contact me under your section 16 duty to provide advice and assistance if you find any aspect of this FOI request problematic.

Please acknowledge receipt of this request, and I look forward to receiving the information in the near future.

Yours faithfully,

Claire Rimmer
