Dear Sir or Madam,

I am writing to kindly request the following information under the Freedom of Information Act 2000:-

1. How many Deferred Payment Agreements were entered into by West Sussex County Council in each of the last 2 financial years 2014/15 and 2015/16?
2. How much does this cost West Sussex County Council per year?
3. Do you have allocated funds set aside for Deferred Payment Agreements?
4. If so, which of the following categories would the funds fall into?
a) up to £500,000 b) £500,000 to £1.5 million c) £1.5 million to £4 million
d) £4 million or above
5. Do you have a set process currently in place to deal with Deferred Payment Agreements (DPA)?
6. How many solely dedicated staff do you currently have for DPA’s?
7. Do you outsource to other organisations to assist with the co-ordination and organisation of DPA’s?

I understand that under the Act I am entitled to a response within 20 working days of your receipt of this request. I do fully appreciate that some parts of the request may be easier to answer than others. Should this be the case, I request that you release information as soon as possible.

If my request is denied in whole or in part, I ask that you justify all deletions by reference to specific exemptions of the Act. I will also expect you to release all non-exempt material. I am aware that I reserve the right to appeal your decision to withhold any information or to charge excessive fees.

I would prefer to receive the information electronically in an effort to remain environmentally friendly and to allow you to provide the information promptly.
If you require any clarification, I expect you to contact me under your section 16 duty to provide advice and assistance if you find any aspect of this freedom of information request problematic.

Thank you for your enquiry, which has been forwarded to the appropriate
officers for a response. The usual timescale for a response is twenty
working days, that is by or on 26.05.16.

Dear Ms Thomas,

 

I refer to your Freedom of Information request dated 27 April 2016, in
which you requested the following information with regard to Deferred
Payment Agreements:

 

1.            How many Deferred Payment Agreements were entered into by
West Sussex County Council in each of the last 2 financial years 2014/15
and 2015/16?

 

In 2014/15 201 were instigated, but not all entered into Deferred Payment
Agreements.

In 2015/16 there were 10 of the new style Deferred Payment Agreements
under the Care Act.

 

2.            How much does this cost West Sussex County Council per year?

 

The cost to the Council is the clients contribution towards the
residential care, which will be recovered when the clients property is
sold, plus the cost of employing a Deferred Payment Officer.

 

3.            Do you have allocated funds set aside for Deferred Payment
Agreements?

 

No

 

4.            If so, which of the following categories would the funds
fall into?

          a) up to £500,000    b) £500,000 to £1.5 million   c) £1.5
million to £4 million

          d) £4 million or above
