Request for Information on Agreements Between GW Pharmaceuticals (now Jazz Pharmaceuticals) and the UK Government

Cefyn Jones made this Freedom of Information request to Department of Health and Social Care Automatic anti-spam measures are in place for this older request. Please let us know if a further response is expected or if you are having trouble responding.

Response to this request is long overdue. By law, under all circumstances, Department of Health and Social Care should have responded by now (details). You can complain by requesting an internal review.

Dear Department of Health and Social Care,

on 10/11/23 I sent you the email below:

"Dear Sir/Madam,

I trust this finds you well.

It has come to my attention, through publicly available information, that there may be an existing agreement between GW Pharmaceuticals (now Jazz Pharmaceuticals) and the British Government. The nature of this agreement, including the possibility of a public-private partnership (PPP), appears not to be in the public domain.

I am writing to request transparent details on any agreements, including potential Public-Private Partnerships, between GW Pharmaceuticals (Jazz Pharmaceuticals) and the UK Government regarding the cultivation and research of cannabis. This request encompasses information on goals, terms, conditions, and expected public benefits.

I would also request to know who the political/public and private finance managers are of any agreement or PPP that is in place.

The timeframe for this information is 01/11/1997 to 31/12/2007

Thank you for your attention to this matter."

I have yet to receive any acknowledgment that you've received this email, but I did send it to 12 government departments, and 10 did confirm receipt.

Considering the nature of the information I'm seeking, please can we continue this FOI chain through WhatDoTheyKnow so that there's transparency with responses.

Yours faithfully,

Cefyn Jones
