Request for information about any rates estimates given to Skegness Town Council in respect of its proposed community hub.

The request was successful.

Peter Michael Stephenson

Dear Valuation Office Agency,

Please inform me of any communication you have had with Skegness Town Council about the rates potentially payable on the community hub it was planning to build on the site of what is now Tower Gardens Pavilion.

If, for the purposes of this FOI request, you insist that it must be about copies of documents, emails and records of telephone calls so be it. Send me those. But in reality if you simply tell me what substantive information was passed to Skegness Town Council - such as what estimate was given and when it was given - that will suffice. Alternatively you may say that there has been no such discussion. This enquiry can be answered in one sentence.

Many thanks.

Yours faithfully,

Peter Michael Stephenson

Dear Freedom Of Information,

Thank you for your reply.

Can I just check that the exemption you quote - that refers to a 'PERSON' also applies to parish council?

If it exists it would be a corporate rather than a personal application.

Yours sincerely,

Peter Michael Stephenson

Dear Mr Stephenson

I confirm that the term “Person” includes all legal entities such as companies, trusts and charities, as well as individuals. (See Schedule 1 of the Interpretation Act (1978)). In practice, this means that it is much wider than the Data Protection Act (DPA) which refers only to ‘living individuals’.

Dear Freedom Of Information,

Many thanks for your explanation - that I regard as entirely reasonable.

Since there isn't a "Refused on proper grounds" option I will mark this correspondence as the information having been provided (which a proper and satisfactory reason was).

Yours sincerely,

Peter Michael Stephenson
