Request for IMCA stat

Department of Health and Social Care did not have the information requested.

Dear Department of Health,

Please could you provide me with data on referrals to Independent Mental Capacity Advocacy services under the Mental Capacity Act from 2014 until the present.

Please could this data be broken down as follows:
1. According to the section of the MCA the referral was made under, and in particular identifying different types of IMCA under the DoLS (i.e. so that s39D IMCA data can be clearly disaggregated).
2. According to the public body making the referral (i.e. NHS or health and, if possible, breakdown by the individual authority).

If you hold data on the number of challenges to decisions under the MCA made by IMCAs (this used to be reported in the IMCA service annual reports) please could you provide these data as well.

In the past there has been some misunderstanding as to whether the Department of Health or NHS Digital holds this data, please could you refer to your earlier review here:

Yours faithfully,

Dear Ms Crowe,

Thank you for your response to my information request. I am sorry to trouble you further but I wondered if I could clarify whether this means that another body, such as NHS Digital, now collects data on IMCA referrals, or whether the IMCA data collection has ceased altogether? If the latter, I'd be grateful if you could confirm when the last data on IMCA referrals were collected.

Yours faithfully,

Lucy Series
