Request all communication relating to proposed Compleat Angler development

Mike Post made this Freedom of Information request to Environment Agency

The request was successful.

Dear Environment Agency,

The Environment Agency (Wallingford) was recently consulted by the planning department of the Royal Borough of Windsor and Maidenhead (RBWM) (Reference 11/02185) on a proposed major development which is the building of a large extension to the Macdonald Compleat Angler hotel. Hotels are categorised in PPS25 as “more vulnerable” buildings. The proposed extension is situated in Flood Zone 3b adjacent to the Grade I listed Marlow suspension bridge. It is also in the Green Belt. The 1991 Compleat Angler extension and the hotel’s staff accommodation flooded in 2003. I have email evidence that the only comment that the Environment Agency initially proposed to make on the planning application was related to the possible interference with the foraging experience of our numerous local bats. Whilst I applaud the proper care for the survival of our local bats, I am surprised to discover that the Environment Agency had apparently given no thought to properly examining the developer’s Flood Risk Assessment which I assess as being seriously flawed.

I should like to see please all Environment Agency external and internal communications relating to the planning application to extend the Macdonald Compleat Angler – RBWM Reference 11/02185.

Thank you in anticipation.

Yours faithfully,

Mike Post
