Reqeuest of S208 placements into Slough Borough

Jack Dempsey made this Freedom of Information request to Croydon Borough Council Automatic anti-spam measures are in place for this older request. Please let us know if a further response is expected or if you are having trouble responding.

The request was successful.

Dear Croydon Borough Council,

I would like to request details on details on housing/TA placements made into the Borough of Slough. S208 of the Housing Act 1996 sets out that ‘so far as reasonably practicable a local housing authority shall in discharging their housing functions under this Part secure that accommodation is available for the occupation of the applicant in their district.’
Where accommodation is secured outside of their district, the placing council needs to give notice to the local authority where the accommodation is located. We are aware of a large number of placements in Slough, as we are contacted by colleagues in Education and Social Care departments regarding such placements, yet the number of S208s received is relatively low. In accordance with S208, we would like to request the complete number of current placements that you have in the Slough area,
• the name of the applicant,
• the number and description of other persons who normally reside with him as a member of his family or might reasonably be expected to reside with him,
• the address of the accommodation,
• the date on which the accommodation was made available to the household, and
• which function under this Part the authority was discharging in securing that the accommodation is available for his occupation, e.g., S188, S193, etc.,

We would request that the information is sent back on an excel spreadsheet.

Yours faithfully,

Jack Dempsey
