Reports of sexual assault by staff members
Dear Sir or Madam,
This is a request for information under the Freedom of Information Act 2000.
My request relates to reports of sexual assault – be it physical or verbal – of students by staff members.
I would like to request the following information:
1) The number of reports made by students of sexual assault by staff members at the university between September 1, 2017 and March 1, 2023;
2) The date each report was made and a description of the allegations;
3) Which of these reports resulted in disciplinary action – and what exactly the disciplinary action was: whether suspension, dismissal, warning, et cetera.
Please provide the information in electronic format. I would like each report listed separately so it is clear which report the separate information relates to.
If it is not possible to provide the information requested due to the information exceeding the cost of compliance limits, please provide advice and assistance as to how I can refine my request.
I look forward to receiving your response within 20 working days. If you need any further clarification, please do not hesitate to contact me.
Yours faithfully,
Narbeh Minassian

Dear Narbeh Minassian,
This is to acknowledge receipt of your request, made under the Freedom of Information Act. The College will respond to your request by 30 March.

Imperial College London
Dear Narbeh Minassian,
Thank you for your Freedom of Information Act request.
Imperial College has recently introduced (figures are available from
January 2022) the [1]Report and Support tool to enable anyone at the
College who has witnessed an incident, or experienced bullying, harassment
or sexual misconduct to make a disclosure. A report using the Report and
Support tool is not a formal report to the College. Data on reports made
is available on the College website: [2]Report and Support data |
Administration and support services | Imperial College London. The College
is in the process of preparing and publishing an updated report for 2023.
Information that is intended for future publication is exempt from the
Freedom of Information Act, Section 22.
If a student chooses to make a formal complaint of sexual harassment,
misconduct, or violence against another student or a member of staff, this
would be investigated under the [3]Student Disciplinary Procedure (under
the Disciplinary Procedures heading) or the [4]Staff Disciplinary
Procedures as applicable. Information about the number of formal
complaints can be found in the College’s FOI Disclosure log under the
heading ‘[5]Sexual misconduct, policy, reporting and disciplinary cases
2015/16 to 2021/22’.
The College cannot further break down the figures or provide any
additional details regarding the complaints, because there is a risk that
individuals may be identifiable.
Yours,
Freedom of Information Team
