Reporting an accusation or allegation
Dear Lincolnshire Police,
If someone makes an accusation/allegation against another person can you tell me if the accused person is always immediately informed of the accusation made against them, by the Police/PCSO?
If not informed due to covert investigation how long, or for how many years, is that person allowed to be under covert investigatin before being informed of said accusation or, failing that, investigation closed?
If investigation is closed, is the accused person's PNC records then wiped of above/said allegation?
Yours faithfully,
Patricia Faulks

Dear Bovingdon, louise,
If the police take No Further Action following initial assessment, surely that person’s PNC record is consequently cleared of any caution/allegation etc?
How could it possibly be fair to not update that person’s pnc records if no further action is taken presumably because no evidence of guilt was found?
Who decides, under MOP records, when or whether said PNC records are deleted? How strictly monitored is this process?
Whilst a person is ‘under covert surveillance’ would the police undertake (for example) door to door or random questioning of - suspect’s neighbours/family/colleagues, say – thus, presumably contravening data protection and human rights law 1998? (I’m talking about an allegation here…possibly false).
Yours sincerely,
PATRICIA FAULKS
