For your information Operation Buell was initiated; this was a North
Bristol initiative as a result of a significant issue of motorcycle thefts
on the North Beats. A trigger plan was put in place to initiate a
particular response.

This trigger plan was later expanded across Bristol to tackle issues in
the greater Bristol area and across its border boundaries (South Glos and
North Somerset).

The use of specific tactics deployed during the operation have been
cascaded as best practice to the sections of the wider organisation
experiencing a similar spike in offences.

As a result of Buell we created a strategic partnership with Bristol Bike
Theft Awareness and a Motorcycle independent advisory group to tackle
wider issues such as bike security through liaison with manufacturers, the
biking community and insurers etc.

Buell as an ethos and working strategic still exists and is implemented
when required.

Yours sincerely
