Reported incidences of inappropriate sexual behaviours on acute mental health inpatient wards.

The request was partially successful.

Dear Lancashire Care NHS Foundation Trust,

I am a third year student currently completing my Msc in Mental Health Nursing at the University of Central Lancashire. I recently contacted you to request data with regard to safeguarding sexually inappropriate behaviours exhibited on elderly dementia wards, which have been reported to either your safeguarding team and/ or datixed in the past year 01/10/2017 - 01/10/2018.

I would be grateful if you could provide me with the same information for the following wards :
Female/ Male inpatient acute wards
Psychiatric intensive care wards
Older adult functional wards

For the purposes of this request sexually inappropriate behaviour is anything verbal i.e sexual comments made by a patient to staff or fellow patients, and physical such as holding hands, kissing and attempts to touch genitals (of staff and/ or patients) or expose their own genitals.

I would like to distinguish from the information if this is made available, the number of incidents which took place and were directed towards staff and equally the number of incidents that took place between patients within the ward environment.

Yours faithfully,

R. Birchall
