Replacing lost licence
Dear Driver and Vehicle Licensing Agency, I have lost my wallet which contained my driving licence. How can I get a replacement licence?

Thank you for your enquiry received on 16/8/2017.
Your case reference number is 00248800.
I am sorry to hear you have misplaced your driving licence.
Since the 8^th June 2015 we no longer issue the paper counterpart with a
full or provisional photocard licence. If you have lost the counterpart
licence only you do not need to take any action.
The fee to replace a lost driving licence is £20.00.
Unless you have a change of name you can replace your driving licence
quickly and easily using our secure [1]online service. A new licence will
usually arrive within 1 week.
If you would prefer not to apply online please refer to the instructions
below depending on the type of licence you hold.
Telephone
As long as your last driving licence was a photocard licence in the
correct name and address you can apply for a replacement by calling our
Contact Centre on:
0300 790 6801
Monday to Friday 8.00am to 7.00pm and Saturday 8.00am to 2.00pm
Your new driving licence will arrive within a few days. Please contact us
if you haven’t received it 2 weeks after calling us.
Applying by post
You’ll need to complete an application form.
You'll need a D1 form for cars or motorbikes, or D2 for lorries and
buses. These can be ordered [2]here. Alternatively, you can get one from
selected [3]Post Offices® that offer driving licence transactions.
Old Style Paper Licence Holders
• You’ll need to include proof of your identity (please see
advice [4]here)
• There is a £20.00 fee
• You’ll need to include 1 passport standard photograph
Photocard
• If you have changed name you’ll need to include proof of your new name
(please see advice [5]here)
• There is a £20.00 fee
• You don’t need to include a new photograph unless your licence is due
to expire, if you include a new photograph the fee is £17.00
