There are apparently no UPVC window products that are endorsed for in use in Conservation Areas in Brighton and Hove.
1. As UPVC is much more cost effective than wood, what support is there for residents of this city to cost effectively double-glaze their homes? i.e. for those who cannot afford wood (which is about double to cost of quality UPVC).
2. There are many UPVC windows installed in houses in the Old Hove and Cliftonville conservation areas. Given these are forbidden is the planning department going to mandate people re-instating wooden-framed windows? If so, when?
3. Why do some people made to apply for planning permission to install UPVC windows and are then automatically refused, whereas their neighbour can just install UVC windows without any permission or without an problems?
4. In the attached are several applications in which UPVC windows (or metal windows) have been approved for installation in a conservation area. Please provides reasons as to why this was allowed in a Conservation area on a case by case basis. These application numbers are as follows:

Every planning application file is a public document. The hardcopy case file can be viewed at HTH. Please call 01273 292222 or come to the customer contact centre and make a request. Files will be made available at your convenience and normally within 48 hours of request.

Each file contains a copy of the officer report prepared by the Local Planning Authority.

Alternatively, for applications registered after 2005 a decision notice for each of the referenced cases can be viewed on the Planning Register. The Planning Register is accessible on the B&HCC website. Place the application reference number in the search engine and select the decision button. The decision notice contains a REASON for the decision.

A link to the register is attached:

I love this council's information policy. I followed this guide and enter the application number. But I could not find the REASON for the decision. This is also one way to disclose information, tell it is there but hide it well. Well done!
