Dear Department for Work and Pensions,
As I'm sure you are aware all local jobcentre plus phone numbers (i.e Worcester was 01905 684600) have been replaced with non-geographical 0845 lo-call phone numbers. This presents a huge problem for people who are unable to attend appointments or those who are running late. Calls to these numbers are up to 50 pence per minute from mobile phones, This is obviously not affordable to people on benefits.
Under the freedom of information act i request:
1) Information on why the decision was taken to change to 0845 numbers
2) Information on any pubic survey that may have been done with regards to this matter and the results of those surveys.
This is an automated confirmation that your request for information has
been received at the DWP Central FoI Team.
We will forward your request to the relevant information owner within the
Department who will respond to you direct.
Should you also have any further queries in connection with this request
do please contact us.
