Repairs and maintenance statistics for social housing
Dear Islington Borough Council,
I am researching how London boroughs organise and deliver repairs and maintenance services to their social housing stock. To assist in this research I would be very grateful if you could provide the information requested below:
1. How many properties are owned (tenanted and leasehold) by your local authority in your borough (please provide the ‘as at’ date for this figure)?
2. How much did your borough spend on responsive repairs and maintenance (including on the blocks and estates they are situated in) to the properties in Q1 above – for the financial years 2018/19; 2017/18; 2016/17?
3. What ‘commercial model’ does your borough use to deliver its responsive repairs and maintenance:
a. A fixed price contract?
b. A ‘price per property’ contract? (if yes, could you provide the price per property?)
c. A priced/discounted ‘schedule of rates’ for works required?
4. How do residents report their repairs & maintenance requests:
a. To an ‘in house’ (i.e. council) customer service centre? (if yes, could you provide the annual budget for operating the customer service centre?)
b. To a repairs and maintenance contractor’s customer service centre?
c. Another arrangement (please describe briefly)?
Yours faithfully,
Mr D. Morris
