Dear Wakefield City Council,

Please could you tell me who is responsible for considering the removal of Land from the green belt?

Why is the name and contact details of the person to whom related enquiries should be addressed?

Dear Mr Wright,

Freedom of Information Act 2000 - Request for Information

I am writing in respect of your recent enquiry for information held by the
Authority under the provisions of the Freedom of Information Act.

Please find the response to your request below.

Wakefield Council, as the local planning authority, is responsible for
preparing the statutory development, known as the local plan.  The Green
Belt is established through this plan making process.  This is the only
process through which the Green Belt can be changed.

The current Green Belt is shown in the Council’s [1]Site Specific Policies
Local Plan, adopted in 2012.  The Council has started to prepare a new
local plan and the proposed Green Belt is shown in the [2]Wakefield
District Initial Draft Local Plan, December 2018.  Select the Green Belt
links in the documents to view the Green Belt.  Information about the
plans is also available on the Council’s [3]Planning Policy web pages.

Any enquiries about the Green Belt should be directed to
[4][email address]

Please do not hesitate to contact me should you have any further queries
regarding this matter.

Yours sincerely
