Relationship with NOW Education (teaching agency)

Response to this request is long overdue. By law, under all circumstances, Somerville Primary (NC) School, Birmingham should have responded by now (details). You can complain by requesting an internal review.

Dear Somerville Primary (NC) School, Birmingham,

I read with interest on the NOW Education website that your school received an investment of circa £12, 000 for a new Library facility from NOW Education.

Could you please address the following points in relation to this:

1. What is your relationship with NOW Education?

2. On what basis was this investment made and accepted by the school and it's governing body and Birmingham City Council?

3. Do you use any other agencies other than NOW Education for your staffing requirements?

Yours faithfully,

Jonathan Davis

Dear Somerville Primary (NC) School, Birmingham,

Please pass this on to the person who conducts Freedom of Information reviews.

I am writing to request an internal review of Somerville Primary (NC) School, Birmingham's handling of my FOI request 'Relationship with NOW Education (teaching agency)'.

By law, you should normally have responded promptly and in term time by 5 September 2017

I appreciate you have only recently returned from the summer break, however I would have expected at least an acknowledgment of my request by now at least.

Q1) Now Education is one of the companies that provides temporary and permanent staff to Somerville School

Q2) Now Education sponsored the creation of a community library based in Somerville School which will be used by both children and parents . Now's Board of Directors agreed to sponsor £12,000 of the estimated £15,000 cost. There is no agreement or contract between Now Education and Somerville Primary which requires Somerville Primary to use NOW Education’s services

Q3) Now Education is one of the many agencies Somerville use for temporary and permanent staff.

Dear Mr I Khan (somerville),

Thank you for your reply.

Further to this could you please address the following points:

1. What are the names of the top three agencies you use ranked by total spend for the academic years 2014/15, 2015/16, 2016/17, 2017/18 to date. Figures to include payment of contract placement fees as well as supply spend.

2. What formal process was undertaken, such as consultation with the Board of Governors, prior to accepting this 'sponsorship' from NOW Education.

3. When was the 'sponsorship' paid by NOW Education i.e. date of payment?

4. How was the remaining £3, 000 raised to cover the full cost as stated?

Yours sincerely,
