Dear Jenna Corderoy,

I am writing in response to your Freedom of Information request in which you asked for details of donations, gifts, grants and research funding that have been rejected by the University.

We have reviewed our fundraising database and have no record of a donation or gift being declined. With respect to grants and research funding, we have declined one offer of research funding in the period in question.

A decision was made on 21 March 2017 by our Ethical Committee to Consider the Acceptance of Gifts to decline an offer of a grant of £85,000 from the foundation, Enhanced Education which is registered in the US Virgin Islands. The grant was intended to fund research into neural and
physiological correlates of meditation experiences in an expert meditator and pupils. The Committee was concerned that the Foundation received a significant amount of its funding from Jeffery Epstein, a US citizen with a criminal conviction for soliciting a minor into prostitution in the state of Florida.

I hope this information satisfies your Freedom of Information request. However, if you are dissatisfied with this response, you may ask for it to be reviewed by either contacting us by email: [Goldsmiths, University of London request email]<mailto:[Goldsmiths, University of London request email]> or by writing to:
