regarding applications rejected by the Welsh Government (December 2015 –
11 December 2018 for the following (i) Safe Routes in Communities Grants,
(ii) Road Safety Capital Grant -

 

What was the grant requested for and what was the reason it was rejected?

 

2015/16

no unsuccessful bids

 

2016/17

no unsuccessful bids

 

2017/18

3 unsuccessful bids -

 

(i) Maesycwmmer Safe Routes in Communities Scheme (on site cycle
storage/off site infrastructure and 20mph zone surrounding Maesycwmmer
Primary School) – No official reason given for unsuccessful bid.

(ii) Road Safety Grant – Capital,  A469 – Heol Cae Barrau – Accident
Remediation Scheme - No official reason given for unsuccessful bid.

(iii) Road Safety Grant – Capital,  A4049 Waunborfa Road, Pengam –
Accident Remediation Scheme - No official reason given for initial
unsuccessful bid. Awarded later at the end of the financial year but
project not delivered by the end of the financial year due to adverse
weather conditions.

 

2018/19

3 unsuccessful bids -

 

(i) Maesycwmmer Safe Routes in Communities Scheme (on site cycle

Primary School) – No official reason given for unsuccessful bid.

(ii) Road Safety Grant – Capital, Mass Action/ Area Wide – Accident
Remediation Scheme – Vehicle Activated Signs – Various locations. - No
official reason given from Welsh Government for unsuccessful bid.

(iii) Road Safety Grant – Capital, Safety Camera Site – Safety Camera
Enforcement Infrastructure  Bid for the siting of a bike mounted “Police
enforcement Camera” off carriageway – Lansbury Park Distributor Road,
Caerphilly. - No official reason given from Welsh Government for
unsuccessful bid.
