Rehousing Out of Area

Isle of Anglesey County Council did not have the information requested.

Dear Isle of Anglesey Council,

I would like information about the numbers of homeless households being moved both out of and into the local authority area and where they are being moved to and from. I am aware from your reporting requirements to central government that you hold this information but only part of it is released through DCLG statistical updates.

I understand that under Section 16 of the Freedom of Information Act 2000 there is a duty to assist and advise the requester and would appreciate your advice if you think my questions need any clarification in order to get the information that I am looking for.

Please disclose the following information:

1. For each year since 2010, please provide a month by month breakdown of the total number of homeless households the local authority has rehoused in another local authority area. For each household rehoused, please indicate:

- the total number of people rehoused

- the local authority area they were moved to

- whether this was temporary or settled accommodation

- whether they were allocated either council / social housing or a private rental tenancy

2. For each year since 2010, please provide a month by month breakdown of the total number of homeless households the local authority has agreed to rehouse from another local authority area. For each household rehoused, please indicate:

- the total number of people rehoused

- the local authority area they were received

- whether this was temporary or settled accommodation

- whether they were allocated either council / social housing or a private rental tenancy.

Yours faithfully,

David Adams

Dylan F. Appleton-Owen, Isle of Anglesey County Council

Good Morning,

I refer to your request for the following information from Isle of Anglesey County Council under the Freedom of Information Act dated 13th March 2018, and respond as follows:

The Required information that the Isle of Anglesey County Council submits to the Welsh Assembly Government in relation to Homeless Households does not include whether they are being re-housed from another area or whether The Isle of Anglesey is re-housing in another Local Authority area.

Therefore as Section 1(1) of the Freedom of Information Act states that any person making a request for information to a public authority is entitled to be informed in writing by the public authority whether it holds information of the description specified in the request, and if that is the case, to have that information “communicated” to him. The authority holds no recorded information that would enable it to respond to your request.
If you are dissatisfied with any aspect of this response to your request for information, and / or the decision made to withhold information, you may ask for an internal review. Please address your correspondence to the Customer Care Officer, Legal Services, Council Offices, Llangefni, Ynys Môn LL77 7TW (E-mail: [email address]).

If you are not content with the outcome of any internal review you have the right to apply directly to the Information Commissioner, Wycliffe House, Water Lane, Wilmslow SK9 5AF. Please note that the Information Commissioner is likely to expect internal review procedures to have been exhausted before beginning his investigation.
