Rehiring staff made redundant early in 2011 in Harrow

The request was successful.

Dear Harrow Primary Care Trust (PCT),

I would like to know how many NHS staff in Harrow who were made redundant since May 2010 have been rehired by the NHS.

Are these people working on a rolling contract?

What is the highest rate of daily pay?
(I have heard some are being paid up to £1000 a day).

Does the funding from this come from the central NHS budget or is
it managed by each individual trust?

How much is this costing NHS Harrow this financial year?

Yours faithfully,

Hannah Bewley

Dear Harrow Primary Care Trust (PCT),

I would like to know whether you hold the information requested. The authority should have responded by December 21 under the law and I would like to know whether I will receive this information or the PCT does not hold it at all.

Yours faithfully,

Hannah Bewley

Dear Ms Bewley,

Please accept my apologies for the delay in responding to your request. This was due to an extended period of sickness absence during December.

Please see below a response to your request for information:

There were 41 staff made redundant from Harrow, voluntary and compulsory. Of these, two are now working for North West London, both of these are directly employed on Agenda for Change terms, one at band 6 and one at band 7. Both of these staff were appointed through competitive recruitment processes where the jobs had been offered first to other staff within the NHS that were at risk. One was appointed six months after the redundancy and the other one eight months after the redundancy.

The salaries for these staff are 34,811 for band 7 and 30,539 (pro rata) for band 6 not the 1000 per day.

The cost for these two staff will be around 63000 per year.

There may be other staff from the remaining 39 redundant staff that are employed elsewhere in the NHS but we would have no knowledge of these staff, they no longer have any connection to NHS Harrow.

Many thanks,

Andrew Lall
