Regularity and standards used for onsite inspections of ambulance service providers

Mr M Gerner made this Freedom of Information request to Northern Ireland Ambulance Service Health and Social Care Trust

This request has been closed to new correspondence from the public body. Contact us if you think it ought be re-opened.

The request was successful.

Dear Northern Ireland Ambulance Service Health and Social Care Trust,

Thank you for your response of 28/9/2018 to my FOI request regarding the inspection of ambulance providers. I now have some follow-up questions.

Q1. What is NIAS’ policy on the frequency of onsite inspections reviewing the operations of private ambulance providers?

Q2. Is there a common standard used for those operational inspections? If so, please specify it.

Q3. What were the findings of the following inspections: British Red Cross (27/4/2017); Proparamedics (1/12/2017); and Greenlight Transfers (5/4/2018)?

Q4. Have any inspections been carried out as yet on the operations of other private/voluntary ambulance providers, specifically Patient Discharge Services, JK Ambulances, Coastal Core and St Johns Ambulance? If so, what were the findings?

Given GDPR considerations, I am happy for NIAS to redact the names of any individuals concerned.

Thanking you in anticipation.

Yours faithfully,

Mr M Gerner

Corporate Manager, Northern Ireland Ambulance Service Health and Social Care Trust

Dear Ms Vitty,

Apropos your message of 4 October stating the Trust is prioritising my enquiry, I have still not received a reply.

This is now well outside the legislative limits of FOIA.

Yours sincerely,

Mr M Gerner

Response received one month late. For all the detail in this response, it could have been with me inside a week. It would be speculation on my part to wonder if the timing of the reply is due to me reporting NIAS to the ICO last week...
