Regarding the PPE course admission statistics
Dear Wadham College, Oxford,
Under the terms of the Freedom of Information Act 2000, I kindly
request some raw data from you regarding university applications:
The average number of A*s at GCSE for those made offers for
PPE in 2012, 2013 and 2014.
Yours faithfully,
David Bolarinwa
Dear David,
Many thanks for your request under the Freedom of Information Act. The
average number of A*s achieved by students who took GCSEs and subsequently
received an offer from Wadham for entry to the PPE course in either 2012,
2013 or 2014 was 8.4.
When considering this figure, it should be taken into account that Wadham
College normally makes eight or nine offers a year to PPE applicants. The
numbers involved are therefore very small and any variation between the
average at Wadham and any other college, or between Wadham and the
University as a whole, is unlikely to be statistically significant. It is
also the case that Wadham, like all colleges at Oxford, operates within
the University's Common Framework on Admissions, as part of which
applicants are routinely reallocated between colleges both before and
after interview. Those who receive offers from Wadham are not therefore
necessarily those who applied to Wadham, while some of those who applied
to Wadham may well have received offers from other colleges.
Full details of the Common Framework can be found here:
