Dear Mr Newberry

Request for information under the Freedom of Information Act 2000

The council has considered your request which was received on 12^th
February 2021 and our response is shown below.

You requested:

- The number of households under your care in 2018, 2019 and 2020

2018 – 124,120

2019 – 124,560

2020 – 125,540

- The cost of refuse collection operations for 2018, 2019 and 2020

Under section 1(1) of the Freedom of Information Act 2000, any person
making a request for information to a public authority is entitled to be
informed in writing by the public authority whether it holds information
of the description specified in the request, and if that is the case, to
have that information communicated to them.

In this case Bolton Council does not hold this information as none of our
recording systems capture the information in the format that you require
(cost in calendar years). Annual costs are calculated on a financial year
basis and it would not be possible to provide the level of information
requested without further analysis and creation of new information. The
Freedom of Information Act does not require us to create documents, nor to
manipulate data to create new information; therefore, the requested
information is not held.

In accordance with Section 16(1) of the Act, the council has a duty to
provide advice and assistance to you, so far as it is reasonable to do so.
We can advise you that the annual costs calculated on a financial basis
are;

2018/19 - £7,897,276

2019/20 - £7,931,029

As the 2020/21 financial year is still ongoing total costs are not held
and will only be available upon completion of this financial year

- The percentage of bins missed during refuse collection rounds in 2018,
2019 and 2020

2018 – 0.062% (Total % of bins reported as missed)

2019 – 0.077% (Total % of bins reported as missed)

2020 – 0.062% (Total % of bins reported as missed)
