Refuse Collection Management

Ralph Hardwick made this Freedom of Information request to Tower Hamlets Borough Council Automatic anti-spam measures are in place for this older request. Please let us know if a further response is expected or if you are having trouble responding.

The request was successful.

Dear Tower Hamlets Borough Council,

For several months refuse collection has been sporadic with many missed collections, not just individual properties, but whole streets.
The council portal identifies specifically the days that collections are made and this includes the three forms of collection; Recycling, General refuse and Green waste/food.

It would appear that refuse collection is poorly managed if at all.

Does the council have a specific plan for collection management to reflect the collections identified on the council portal?
https://www.towerhamlets.gov.uk/lgnl/env...

This information suggests that there are 'rounds' which the relevant refuse vehicle has to complete based on the council portal identified.

How are the various collections reported by the crews if they are not collecting as identified on the council portal?
Is there a reporting mechanism by the collection crew to identify streets and rounds that are missed?
What action does the management take when sections of rounds are missed?

Will the council publish what rounds have been missed, and identify when those missed collections will be completed?

Yours faithfully,

Ralph Hardwick

Dear Tower Hamlets Borough Council,

Please pass this on to the person who conducts Freedom of Information reviews.

I am writing to request an internal review of Tower Hamlets Borough Council's handling of my FOI request 'Refuse Collection Management'.

The response to the questions asked was pathetic as the only response referred to the website.

These questions do not refer to individual property missed collections, for which there is a reporting mechanism, but for when whole streets are missed.

Does a plan exist for what streets and properties are to be collected from, based on the published collection information on the website?

How many routes or rounds are there?

What reporting mechanism is in place to report streets that have been missed or not collected on the day identified on the website?

What action does management take to ensure missed collections are documented?

How does the council report missed collections that refer to whole streets rather than individual properties?

[ GIVE DETAILS ABOUT YOUR COMPLAINT HERE ]

A full history of my FOI request and all correspondence is available on the Internet at this address: https://www.whatdotheyknow.com/request/r...
