Dear Ministry of Defence,
I was employed from 2012 until 2014 by Interserve as Head of Planning at MPA, Falkland Islands. I then worked for the Falkland Islands Government from 2014 until 2016 as head of Municipal Servies and Housing.
I am 6ft 7inches tall and at the time weighed 160kgs and I’m type 2 diabetic. But this did not stop me from passing the medical to work in the Islands.
I was asked if i would like to go back to MPA as head of Utilities, so i applied and got the role only to find the current SMO will not pass my medical due to me being overweight and diabetic.
Can you tell me why I’m being discriminated against as my medical conditions have not changed over the last 3 years since i was last in the Falklands? This has a detrimental effect to my lively hood and makes me feel that I’m no longer a useful member of society.
