Dear Wirral Metropolitan Borough Council,
How many asylum seekers and refugees have settled on Wirral since 2010 to date?
Dear Mr Simpson,
Thank you for your recent request made under the Freedom of Information
Act 2000. Please see our response below:
Between January 2017 and January 2020, a total of 134 people have settled
in Wirral as part of the Liverpool City region commitment to supporting
the Syrian Vulnerable Persons Programme (Wirral only started resettling
people through this programme in 2017).
The Asylum Seeker programme is managed by SERCO so Wirral Council does not
have information in relation to numbers of people who have actually chosen
to settle in Wirral, where they have received a positive response from the
Home Office in relation to their Asylum Claim.
I trust this assists you with your enquiries.
You have the right under Section 17 of the Freedom of Information Act 2000
to ask for an internal review of the refusal of the information
requested. Please direct any request for an internal review to
[Wirral Borough Council request email] and your request will be allocated for
