Dear freedom of information manager,

Hello I hope you can help me with the following request for information. I would like the data for 2016/2017 and 2017/2018 if you have both, if not just 2016/2017 would be great.

i) the adult with (potential) care and support needs,
ii) carers of the adult with care and support needs
iii) young people in transition
iv) carers of young people in transition

2. If you hold data on the number of referrals made, please could you provide information on how many times a Care Act Advocate was arranged within:

i. a needs assessment (under section 9);

ii. a carer’s assessment (under section 10);

iii. the preparation of a care and support plan or support plan (under section 25);

iv. a review of care and support plan or support plan (under section 27);

v. a child’s needs assessment (under section 60);

vi. a child’s carer’s assessment (under section 62);

vii. a young carer’s assessment (under section 65).

3. If you hold data on the number of challenges to decisions (formal written complaints, number of cases brought for Judicial Review or applications to the Court of Protection) made by advocates, please could you provide this data as well.

Thank you so much for your help with this request,

Kind regards,

Hello I hope you can help me with the following request for information.
I would like the data for 2016/2017 and 2017/2018 if you have both, if not
just 2016/2017 would be great.

1.       Please could you provide the name of the advocacy organisation(s)
commissioned to provide advocacy under the Care Act 2014 for each the
following groups:

i)                    the adult with (potential) care and support needs

Cloverleaf Advocacy

Touchstone Leeds from 1.10.18

ii)                  carers of the adult with care and support needs

iv)                carers of young people in transition

Cloverleaf Advocacy

2.       If you hold data on the number of referrals made, please could
you provide information on how many times a Care Act Advocate was arranged
within:

i.                    a needs assessment (under section 9);

ii.                  a carer’s assessment (under section 10);

iii.                the preparation of a care and support plan or support
plan (under section 25);

iv.                 a review of care and support plan or support plan
(under section 27);

v.                   a child’s needs assessment (under section 60);

vi.                 a child’s carer’s assessment (under section 62);

vii.               a young carer’s assessment (under section 65).

In response to i,  iii and iv, the data is not held separately. However
overall:

·         In 2016/17 – 279 referrals were accepted by the Care Act
Advocacy Service.

·         In 2017/18 – 254 referrals were accepted by the Care Act
Advocacy Service

In response to ii and v, the data is not held separately. However overall:

·         In 2016/17 – 97 referrals were accepted by the Carers Advocacy
Service.  32 of these were parent carers (therefore linked to child’s
needs, however the data re the numbers which were arranged within a
child’s assessment is not available)

·         In 2017/18 – 91 referrals were accepted by the Carers Advocacy
Service.  29 of these were parent carers (therefore linked to child’s
needs, however the data re the numbers which were arranged within a
child’s assessment is not available)

In response to vi and vii:

·         In 2016/17 104 and 2017/18 – 105 young carers were supported and
each one of these received an ‘assessment’.  However data is not available
regarding how many accessed an advocate.

3.       If you hold data on the number of challenges to decisions (formal
written complaints, number of cases brought for Judicial Review or
applications to the Court of Protection) made by advocates, please could
you provide this data as well.
