Dear Oxfordshire County Council,
How many Oxfordshire residents have been referred for surveillance under the Oxfordshire Suicide and Self-Harm Prevention Strategy?
Of those that have been referred, how many are white? How many are BAME? And how many are Muslim?
Yours faithfully,

Dear [Name Removed]
Thank you for your request of 27^th June 2021 in which you asked for the
following information:
How many Oxfordshire residents have been referred for surveillance under
the Oxfordshire Suicide and Self-Harm Prevention Strategy?
Of those that have been referred, how many are white? How many are BAME?
And how many are Muslim?
Please see our response below:
1. How many Oxfordshire residents have been referred for surveillance
under the Oxfordshire Suicide and Self-Harm Prevention Strategy?
Oxfordshire County Council Public Health team monitor deaths by suicide in
collaboration with the Coroner’s Office and Thames Valley Police. This
constitutes our suicide surveillance. Each year we review the annual
numbers of deaths by suicide which we use to inform the work priorities of
the local Suicide and Self-Harm Prevention Strategy and Action Plan
through our wider partnership work in the multi-agency group. There are
fluctuations to the numbers each year, but on average Oxfordshire deaths
by suicide are approximately 60.
2. Of those that have been referred, how many are white? How many are
BAME? And how many are Muslim?
Data on ethnicity and faith is not always available through our data
collection methods. We are therefore not able to report on these
demographics due to inconclusive data.
