Referrals for case conferencing and to senior safeguarding leaders

The request was partially successful.

Dear Department for Work and Pensions,

In your response dated 20/05/2021 to a previous FOI I entered (https://www.whatdotheyknow.com/request/i...) you have kindly provided information around how many times DWP Visiting made referrals to DS CEAS team after Ineffective Visits since the new Ineffective Visits / Core visits guidance was issued in June 2020.

I am aware that in the case of ineffective visits made to claimants of ESA and UC, rather than making the referral to the DS CEAS team (as with PIP), a referral would instead then be made to the HEO (for ESA) or team leader (for UC) of the person who made the referral. At this point I understand case conferencing is to take place to determine the safest route forward, and where relevant this is then escalated to a Senior Safeguarding Leader.

- Please could you provide the equivalent information to that which you have already provided for PIP, for UC and ESA - namely, how many referrals have been made to HEOs / team leaders for Case Conferencing after ineffective visits.

- Additionally, how many such Case Conferences have led to referrals being made to Senior Safeguarding Leaders.

I am seeking this information from June 2020 to present. If you did not collect this information from June 2020, I would like it from whichever date you started collecting it on.

Yours faithfully,

Finn Keaney

Safeguarding

Question 7: Can you now give us more detail about that process and the information that the Department holds [about the number of times the Department communicates with other agencies in order to protect a vulnerable person]?

Question 8: You mentioned the creation of “advanced customer support leads”.

Are those the same roles that you described as Safeguarding Leads in the Secretary of State’s letter to us of 29 September 2020, or are they different roles?'
