Ref a charity called JAFLAS - results of any Commission investigations
Dear Charity Commission for England and Wales,
I am writing under the FOI Act to ask what investigations the Commission has made since 1 August 2014 of a charity called the Joint Armed Forces Legal Advocacy Service (JAFLAS) whose website asserts that it is a registered charity with the number 1142202, and of associated individuals, in particular Alan Blacker (aka Lord Harley), and when the results of such investigations will be announced or otherwise available to the public.
Yours faithfully,
Rupert Holderness
Dear Mr Holderness,
Thank you for your email of 15 October in which you specifically asked
what investigations the Commission has made since 1 August 2014 of a
charity called the Joint Armed Forces Legal Advocacy Service (JAFLAS)
whose website asserts that it is a registered charity with the number
1142202, and of associated individuals, in particular Alan Blacker (aka
Lord Harley), and when the results of such investigations will be
announced or otherwise available to the public. This request for
information has been assessed as being requested under the Freedom of
Information Act 2000 (FOIA).
Having checked our records I can confirm that no formal investigation has
been made by the Commission into the charity. As no formal investigation
has been undertaken there are no results to announce or to make public.
However, we are aware of recent media reports regarding Alan Blacker and
we are assessing whether there is any regulatory role for the Commission.
We have written to the trustees on the matter and are currently awaiting
their response.
If you are unhappy with our response to your FOIA request, or if you have
a complaint, you should write to the Charity Commission by email to
[1][email address].uk Please state what it
is you are unhappy with, which will assist us when we review or response.
Yours sincerely
Tony Robinson
