Redundancy payments and consultancy fees
Dear Children’s Commissioner for England,
This is a request under the Freedom of Information Act.
I would be extremely grateful if you could let me have the information requested below within 20 working days of 6 May 2015.
For the each of the financial years 2013/14, 2014/15 and 2015/16 (to 30 April 2015)
1. How many members of Children's Commissioner's staff have received payments as part of a severance scheme (including, but not limited to, redundancy payments and payments made as part of a compromise agreement) in each year?
2. What was the total value of these payments in each year?
3. How many of these individuals have subsequently carried out work for the Children's Commissioner on a consultancy or contract basis?
4. What is the total value of this work (including the value of contracts which have been entered into but not yet completed)?
Yours faithfully,
Lorraine Aitken
Thank you for your email. This is an automatic acknowledgement to let you know we have received it.
We receive a large number of letters and emails including invitations, requests for information, advice and assistance and marketing material. We read all of them and reply if it is appropriate for us to do so.
If your email is a request for advice or assistance, we will reply if we can help you. However, the law only allows us to address certain issues which are set out in the Children and Families Act 2014. The Act says we can provide advice and assistance only to children and young people who live away from home or who receive social care services, or adults representing them but it prevents us from taking on other individual cases. If you have told us you meet one of these criteria, we will forward your email to a member of our care and protection team and they will get in touch with you directly. The team can be reached by free phone on 0800 528 0731. If you do not fall within one of these groups we may reply to you, depending on our capacity to do so, but we are a fairly small organisation, so cannot guarantee a response.
We prioritise responses according to their urgency. If you have an urgent concern about a child protection issue, you should contact your local police or social services. Adults can also call the NSPCC child protection helpline on 0808 800 5000. Children can call Childline on 0800 1111.
Yours faithfully,

Dear Ms Foster,
I am writing to remind you of my request for information regarding severance payments and consultancy contracts, which was submitted on 5 May. Can you please let me know when I can expect this request, issued under the Freedom of Information Act (FOI) will be completed?
If I do not receive a substantive response in the next five working days, I will escalate this request to the next level.
Yours faithfully,
Lorraine Aitken
