Dear Wirral Metropolitan Borough Council,

Please check out the following link for details of 834 redundancies signed off by Wirral Council between January 2011 and February 2013, at the following link:

http://wirralinittogether.wordpress.com/...

The council appear to have NOT included and totalled the agreements which were attached to the 834 redundancies and have declared a false and much reduced total of 11 compromise agreements (in the 3rd column).

Please confirm that there were 834 compromise agreements attached to the 834 redundancies stated - as mentioned in the text of the link.

Please also confirm that the true total of compromise agreements in this time period was 11 + 834 = 845 compromise agreements (in the 3rd column),

Yours faithfully,

Paul Cardin

Dear Wirral Metropolitan Borough Council,

Please pass this on to the person who conducts Freedom of Information reviews.

I am writing to request an internal review of Wirral Metropolitan Borough Council's handling of my FOI request 'Redundancy - Compromise Agreements'.

Please ask a senior officer to carry out an internal review of this request and to report back within the time specified within the Act. Please also acknowledge receipt of this request for internal review.

A full history of my FOI request and all correspondence is available on the Internet at this address: https://www.whatdotheyknow.com/request/r...

Dear Wirral Metropolitan Borough Council,

Please respond to my internal review request, which was lodged just over 2 months ago.

You are again in breach of the FOI Act. If a response is not received this week, I will have no alternative but to appeal to the ICO,

Yours faithfully,

Paul Cardin

Due to Wirral Council's failure to provide the information or to quote an exemption justifying its non disclosure, this will be appealed to the Information Commissioner

Appealed to the Information Commissioner's Office today. The public interest demands a statement from the council, confirming an updated total for compromise agreements of 11 + 834 = 845.

Here's a story in the Wirral Globe which refers to this. It should be mentioned here that it appears nobody, let alone the public, knew anything about this - apart from those officers, councillors and solicitors involved, who seem to prefer 'operating in the shadows' rather than openly and with a measure of accountability.
