Thank you for your recent request.

Your request is being considered and you will receive a response within
the statutory timescale of 20 working days, subject to the application of
any exemptions. Where consideration is being given to exemptions the 20

you will be notified and, where possible, a revised time-scale will be
indicated. In all cases we shall attempt to deal with your request at the
earliest opportunity.

There may be a fee payable for the retrieval, collation and provision of

Freedom Of Information, Croydon Borough Council

Dear Mr John Hughes

Request for Information under the Freedom of Information Act 2000.

I am writing to advise you that the time limit for responding to your
request for information which was received on 5 May 2016 needs to be
extended.

It is occasionally necessary to extend the 20 working day time limit for
issuing a response. In the case of your request, I must extend the time
limit by approximately 20 working days because the information requested
must be considered under one of the exemptions to which the public
interest test applies. This extra time is needed in order to make a
determination as to the public interest.

I hope to let you have a response by 27 June 2016. If you do not receive
my response or further information by then, please contact me and I will
investigate the matter.

If you have any queries about this e-mail, please contact Information Team
quoting the reference number above.

If you are dissatisfied with the way the Council has handled your request
under the Freedom of Information Act you may ask for an internal review.
This should be submitted to us within 40 working days of this response.
You can do this by outlining the details of your complaint by:

Email:        [Croydon Borough Council request email]

Writing:      Information Team

London Borough of Croydon

Bernard Weatherill House

7^thFloor - Zone D

                   8 Mint Walk

Croydon CR0 1EA

Any requests received after the 40 working day time limit will be
considered only at the discretion of the council.

If you are not content with the outcome of the internal review, you have
the right to apply directly to the Information Commissioner for a
decision. The Information Commissioner can be contacted at:

Information Commissioner’s Office

Dear Freedom Of Information,

Thank you for your response dated 31st May explaining that more time is required to consider an exemption involving application of the public interest test (PIT).

However, you do not identify which exemption or exemptions are being considered, which you are obliged to do under section 65 of the ICO's guidance - Time limits for compliance under the Freedom of Information Act (Section 10):

"65. Any authority claiming an extension will still be obliged to issue a refusal notice explaining which exemption applies and why within 20 working days. This notice must explain that it requires more time to consider the public interest test, and provide an estimate of the date on which a final decision is likely to be made."

Can you please immediately either identify the exemptions(s) being considered or forward the information being requested?

Yours sincerely,
John Hughes
