Redacted parts of SoS speech to Confederation of Schools Trust

J Downs made this Freedom of Information request to Department for Education

This request has been closed to new correspondence from the public body. Contact us if you think it ought be re-opened.

The request was successful.

Dear Department for Education

On 11 October 2018, the education secretary Damian Hinds made a speech to the Confederation of Schools Trust. Parts of the speech were redacted when it was published on the Department for Education's website because they were deemed 'political'.

I should be grateful if you could release the redacted statements in the name of transparency.

Yours faithfully

J Downs

Dear Department for Education,

On 12 October I send a Freedom of Information request asking for the redacted parts of Damian Hinds's speech to the Confederation of Schools Trust be made public.

You acknowledged the request and said you usually answer in 15 working days.

That time has passed. You have also exceeded the statutory time in which FoI requests should be answered.

I should be grateful if you would respond by Friday 16 November. This will avoid the necessity of requesting an Internal Review.

Yours faithfully,

J Downs

Dear Department for Education,

Please pass this on to the person who conducts Freedom of Information reviews.

I am writing to request an internal review of Department for Education's handling of my FOI request 'Redacted parts of SoS speech to Confederation of Schools Trust'.

The reply is now overdue. I sent a reminder last week and received an acknowledgement but have still not received a response.

A full history of my FOI request and all correspondence is available on the Internet at this address: https://www.whatdotheyknow.com/request/r...

Yours faithfully,

J Downs

Dear ACCOUNT, Unmonitored,

Thank you for your belated reply telling me the full speech has been available since 29 October although it was not 'reasonably accessible' to me when I requested the full speech on 12 October. The speech published on the Gov.uk website had been redacted.

There is no need to continue with the Internal Review I requested. . However, I have noted that the response was late and not for the first time. I shall let the ICO know as I believe they monitor which departments are tardy in responding to FoI requests.

Yours sincerely,

J Downs
