Red 1 Ambulance Response Times

The request was successful.

Dear South Western Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust,

I would like to know the call-out locations for every Red 1 (cardiac arrest) incident in Bath & North East Somerset since 2010.

I would also like the data for the following fields:

- Date
- Postcode (or the smallest geographic area at which the data can be published, e.g. postcode, Output Area, LSOA, etc)
- Chief Complaint
- Response time
- Station responding

Please provide this data in a machine readable format.

For my analysis, I am interested in getting the data to the smallest geographic area that will not breach privacy rules. If it is possible to report this data a postcode or similar small area level, but only if it is summarised in another way, then I would prefer to have the data in that form.

For example, if the data can only be shared to postcode level by reporting the number of callouts per month, with an average response time. Then I would prefer it in that form.

I also understand that you may need redact data if there are small sample sizes in certain areas. Please indicate if and how you have done that.

Please can you also clarify the terms of reuse for this data. If possible I would like permission to publicly share this data under the Open Government Licence.

Yours faithfully,

Leigh Dodds

Targets for Red calls are determined at
a national level for all ambulance

following fields: incident is a presenting condition
which may be immediately life
  threatening, and should receive an
emergency response within 8 minutes
- Date irrespective of location in 75% of
cases.
- Postcode (or the smallest
geographic area at which the data
can be published, e.g. postcode,
Output Area, LSOA, etc) I can confirm that we are unable to
provide figures prior to April 2013 as
- Chief Complaint the information is not recorded in our
systems in a format that is reportable.
- Response time

- Station responding
It is not possible for us to extract
this information without conducting a
manual search of our records. Carrying
this out would exceed the time/cost
limit set out in Section 12 of the
Freedom of Information Act and we
therefore consider we are exempt from
providing this information.

Data is also not provided from April
2016 onwards due to South Western
Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust
changing to the Ambulance Response
Programme Time Code Set Trial where Red
1's are no longer a call category.

The data shown under home station shows
the base station of the first crew that
responded, however the crew are very
likely to have been at another location
when they attended.

Please note that, under the Re-use of Public Sector Information
Regulations, if you wish to publish or otherwise use this information
besides for your own means, you will need to seek our permission to do so.
