Could you please supply the following information:

1. Can you supply a copy of the academic staff recruitment policy in place between 2013-2015?
2. Can you confirm that all academic staff were recruited following this policy between the period of 2013-2015? For example, this employee (or any other academic employees): https://www.northampton.ac.uk/directorie.... If you need to narrow this request, please provide this for staff involved in your online MBA courses only.
3. Can you confirm whether between 2015-2016, your University or any employees of the University were involved in any research involving students, on behalf of any third parties or your University, where the students didn't provide consent from an ethical perspective? If you need to narrow this request, please provide this for staff involved in your online MBA courses only.
4. Has any student information or research been shared with any 3rd party, by your or your employees, without the student supplying consent for this? If so, on what grounds was this shared? If you need to narrow this request, please provide this for staff involved in your online MBA courses only.

I look forward to receiving this data. If you hold this data but cannot supply it for any reason, please detail the legal grounds upon which you are refusing to supply this data.

Yours faithfully,

A Brunt

5^th March 2019

Dear A Brunt

I write in response to your request for information dated 4^th February
2019 received by the University and passed to me as the University’s
Freedom of Information Officer for action.

In answer to your questions:

 1. Can you supply a copy of the academic staff recruitment policy in
place between 2013-2015?

The [1]Recruitment Guide for Managers used at the University of
Northampton is published on our website.

 2. Can you confirm that all academic staff were recruited following this
policy between the period of 2013-2015?  For example, this employee
(or any other academic employees):
[2]https://www.northampton.ac.uk/directorie... If
you need to narrow this request, please provide this for staff
involved in your online MBA courses only.

Yes. These guidelines were used in the recruitment processes of all staff
recruited during the period of 2013-2015

 3. Can you confirm whether between 2015-2016, your University or any
employees of the University were involved in any research involving
students, on behalf of any third parties or your University, where the
students didn't provide consent from an ethical perspective? If you
need to narrow this request, please provide this for staff involved in
your online MBA courses only.

This information is not held in a way that makes it accessible.
Participants would be required to express consent through either a consent
form, by answering a consent questionnaire, or by reading a consent
statement at the outset of the project depending on the subject. As well
as this, MBA dissertations during this period would all have required
submission to the ethics committee for approval ensuring that consent was
expressly considered. To obtain the details you request as to the
specifics of the research would involve identifying, locating, retrieving
and reviewing every piece of research undertaken in that time frame. This
exercise would exceed 2½ days and it is therefore exempt under section 12
(would exceed the appropriate limit) of the Freedom of Information Act
2000 as set out in Statutory Instrument 2004 NO 3244 “The Freedom of
Information and Data Protection (Appropriate Limit and Fees) Regulations
2004”.

4.    Has any student information or research been shared with any 3rd
party, by your or your employees, without the student supplying consent
for this?      If so, on what grounds was this shared?  If you need to
narrow this request, please provide this for staff involved in your online
MBA courses only.

The university is not aware of any research or student information being
shared with any 3^rd party without the consent of the participants. Should
the University become aware of such an occurrence, an investigation and
appropriate disciplinary action would be taken.

I hope the University has made its response in a clear and constructive
manner; however, if you consider the University has handled your request
unfairly you are entitled to follow the process set out in our standard
advice on the University's Freedom of Information Complaints Procedure
which is available online at:

[3]University FoI complaints procedure

Yours sincerely

Annette Reeves
