Recruitment of staff to social work posts in 2010/11

Edward Rudolf made this Freedom of Information request to Southampton City Council This request has been closed to new correspondence. Contact us if you think it should be reopened.

The request was successful.

Dear Southampton City Council,

I would like to request the following information about the
recruitment of individuals to posts with the council for which a qualification in social work is an essential requirement. In order to simply this request it is appropriate for the council to limit the scope of its answers to posts in departments and/or teams in which social workers make up a significant share of employees.

1. The number of individuals recruited by the council to roles for which a qualification in social work was an essential requirement in 2010/11 on a permanent or fixed term contract.

2. The number of individuals retained by an employment agency that started to carry out roles for which a qualification in social work was an essential requirement in 2010/11 for the council.

For the purposes of this request a qualification in social work is defined as:

•A degree in social work approved by one of the social care
regulatory councils of the UK;
•Diploma in Social Work (DipSW);
•Certificate in Social Service (CSS);
•Certificate of Qualification in Social Work (CQSW);
•Letter of Comparability to the CQSW issued by CCETSW to social workers trained outside the United Kingdom;
•Courses recognised by the Association of Psychiatric Social Workers AAPSW) which lead to membership of the association;
•Courses recognised by the Institute of Medical Social Workers which lead to eligibility for registration of an associate of the institute (AIMA or AMIA); or,
•Probation Certificate issued by the Recruitment and Training Committee of the Advisory Council for Probation and After Care until 1971.

Yours faithfully,

Edward Rudolf
