Recruitment of Allied Health Care Professionals

The request was successful.

Dear Cambridgeshire and Peterborough NHS Foundation Trust,

Please provide all information in relation to the recruitment process for allied health professional staff, in particular, physiotherapists.

I am interested in:-

• Who writes the job description and person specification for each role? Is this performed by HR, or clinical staff, or do the clinical staff just have input into this HR function?
• Who screens applications received? Is this performed by HR staff, or by the clinical staff with whom the successful applicant will work?
• Who compiles the shortlist for interview (as above)?
• Why do some advertisements for entry level roles i.e. band 5, stipulate that applicants should have experience? In this case, what experience is expected of a newly qualified entrant to the profession other than the mandatory clinical undergraduate experience common to all graduates?
• Apart from qualifications and experience, what other factors are considered when selecting successful applicants?

Additionally, I am enquiring about which of the following candidate details are made available to interviewers before
an interview:-
*Contact details (address, phone, email).
*Qualifications (with dates of graduation).
*Continued professional development, with dates.
*Experience: with names of previous employers / dates of employment, description of duties performed in each role.
*Details provided about any reason for leaving any particular employment.
* Details provided about any period when not employed.
*Names of referees.
*Personal statements.
*Equality monitoring information.

Yours faithfully,

Nigel Lawrence

Dear Cambridgeshire and Peterborough NHS Foundation Trust,

Please pass this on to the person who conducts Freedom of Information reviews.

Thank you for providing some of the information that I requested.

I am writing to request an internal review of Cambridgeshire and Peterborough NHS Foundation Trust's handling of my FOI request 'Recruitment of Allied Health Care Professionals'.

With regard to point 5 of your response, I would like to request that you clarify your answer provided

I asked: "Apart from qualifications and experience, what other factors are considered when
selecting successful applicants?"

You replied: "The candidates are shortlisted based on Education, Experience, Skills/Abilities,
Knowledge/Understanding, Physical requirements and other requirements."

Please clarify what is meant by 'education' where this differs from 'qualifications'. Also, please clarify what is meant by 'physical requirements' and by 'other requirements' which you allude to but do not detail in your response.
