Dear [Name Removed]
FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT 2000 - INFORMATION REQUEST
Thank you for your request for information received on 28^th February
2022 and apologies for the delay in replying. The University’s response is
below.
1. How many British Muslim employees have you recruited? Please provide
figures for every year since 2010.
Of those who have declared their religion as Muslim please see numbers
recruited since 2010. – 5 or less for each year.
Owing to the small number of individuals in certain categories it is
considered that the University, if it were to disclose the level of detail
requested (academic year, confirming that a person is a member of staff,
their declared religion ) would be making available data about an
individual, or a small number of individuals, from which they could be
identified, either from this information alone, or a combination of this
information and other information otherwise available to the public. It
is therefore considered that providing further detail is exempt from
disclosure by virtue of Section 40(2) of the Freedom of Information Act
2000 (personal information). Personal data is defined as ‘data which
relate to a living individual who can be identified: from this data, or
from this data and other information which is in the possession of, or is
likely to come into the possession of the data controller’.
Individuals have an expectation that their information is kept
confidentially and it is our belief that such disclosure would not meet
any of the conditions set out in Article 6 of the GDPR.
In accordance with section 17 of the Freedom of Information Act, this
letter acts as a Refusal Notice for this part of your request.
2. What is the average length of service? - Of those who have declared
their religion as Muslim the average length of service is 1023 days.
3. How many British Muslims have you employed in communications/media
roles since 2010? - Of those who have declared their religion as Muslim -
