HR SARs and FOIs, Bradford City Council

Dear [Name Removed]

This is in relation to your Freedom of Information request, please see
below our response.

Please note that:

·         the Council does not hold recruitment records back to 2010, we
only hold back to 2015

·         Our recruitment and HR systems are currently separate and
unintegrated and protected characteristics data is not transferred to the
HR system on appointment

·         disclosure of personal protected characteristics data is
voluntary for employees/applicants and we have a high incidence of people
who choose not to disclose this data. Our religion employee data
especially has never had a very big disclosure rate, currently our
religion disclosure rate is only 20% of all permanent and temporary
employees (ie over 80% have not stated their religion or said they prefer
not to say)

·         Nationality data is not recorded for applicants, this is only
collected at the ‘Asylum & Immigration Check’ stage once an appointment
has been made, so we are assuming that all applicants were British

Total number of Applicants that were offered a contract that stated they
were Muslim on their application form:

2015 – 47

2016 – 53

2017 – 136

2018 – 118

2019 – 167

2020 – 88

2021 – 121

Average Length of Service for permanent and temporary employee leavers
stating they were Muslim (years):

2016 – 7.7

2017 – 9.6

2018 – 5.0

2019 – 7.5

2020 – 7.2

2021 – 9.3

We have a small central communications and media team, however only one of
them has ever disclosed their religion/belief, therefore it is not
possible for us to answer the question about how many of these staff are
Muslims.

In accordance with the Freedom of Information Act, if you are not
satisfied with the reply to your request you can ask for a review. A
request for a review must be submitted within 40 working days by emailing
us at [1][Bradford City Council request email] or by writing Information Governance Team,
