Recruitment and recruitment: British Muslims

The request was partially successful.

Dear Blackpool and the Fylde College,

1. How many British Muslim employees have you recruited? Please provide figures for every year since 2010.

2. What is the average length of service?

3. How many British Muslims have you employed in communications/media roles since 2010?

Yours faithfully,

Dear Rabyah

Thank you for your FOI request (below).

Please find response on behalf of Blackpool and The Fylde College:

1. How many British Muslim employees have you recruited? Please provide figures for every year since 2010.
Our records show that only 17 people told us they were Muslim over the past 5 years. The average number per year is extremely small and means that individuals could easily be identified from the data. Therefore, under the terms of the Data Protection Act, we are unable to share the specific figures with you. However, we would note that the 17 referred to are those who chose to declare that they are Muslim. It is not mandatory to declare this information when recruited.

2. What is the average length of service?
Again, due to the small numbers, we are unable to share specific annual numbers.

3. How many British Muslims have you employed in communications/media roles since 2010?
As an FE College, we have very small numbers of communications positions. This along with the very small numbers of individuals who have told us they are Muslim, means we are unable to provide figures because the individuals could be identified from that information.

Kind regards
