Dear Mr Allen,

Thank you for your request for information from the University of Dundee.
Colleagues have provided the answers to your questions below.

(1) Were staff deducted pay during this period?  YES

(2) If so, how much was deducted in total? (If a final figure is not
available, please give an estimate, but make it clear if this is an
estimate)  £c.174,080.11

(3) How will these funds be distributed within the university?  It has
been agreed that a sum amounting to half of the total salary deductions
made is donated to the Student Hardship Fund with the balance being
allocated to Schools in line with their proportion of the striking
population.  Schools will be asked to submit a plan for using the money to
provide positive benefits to students on the affected courses through, for
example, additional study trips, learning resources or visiting lectures.
Should no payments be made to Schools, or insufficient bids come in, the
remainder will go to the hardship fund.

I trust that this is helpful. Please feel free to contact me if I can be
of further assistance.

Kind regards, Alan Coull
