Response to Freedom of Information Request

Thank you for your e-mail of 12th June 2023 where you requested the
following information:

 1. Please advise the number of detentions given in the academic year
2021/22 and 2022/present
 2. Please specify the reasons for detentions given either in a word
document or spreadsheet such as incorrect uniform, bullying,  not
following instructions etc.

We have now completed searching for the information you requested. Please
see the information below.

 1. Please advise the number of detentions given in the academic year
2022/present - this is currently at 7,452. 2021/22 was 6,684
 2. Please specify the reasons for detentions given either in a word
document or spreadsheet such as incorrect uniform, bullying,  not
following instructions etc. Please see attached the reasons for 2022 -
present. I have also included a list of the specific things, which
could result in a 'Red Card Detention', as laid out in our current
Behaviour Policy. The 6,684 detentions in 2021 - 22 were all listed as
"Red Card detentions". At present, I cannot locate the exact number of
academic detentions, issued in 2021 - 22.

If you are dissatisfied with the handling of your request, you have the
right to ask for an internal review. Internal review requests should be
submitted within two months of the date of receipt of the response to your
original letter and should be addressed to Ms Paula Smith (Headteacher)
via email [email address]. Please provide full details of the reasons why
you believe your request was not handled properly.

If you are not content with the outcome of the internal review, you have
the right to apply directly to the Information Commissioner for a
decision. The Information Commissioner can be contacted at: Information
Commissioner's Office, Wycliffe House, Water Lane, Wilmslow, Cheshire, SK9
5AF.
