We have an ongoing programme of upgrades to bus stops ensuring that we achieve maximum accessibility to all bus stops, where practical. These are normally done through highway improvements, upgrades, section 106 funding or when additional funding from DfT allows.
Our primary corridors are 97% accessible with the remaining 3% on the radar for future upgrading. We have just completed 6 of those in the last 2 weeks.
Of our none primary corridors, we are at approximately 64% are compliant and again under review when opportunity presents.
Rural routes as you may appreciate are a lot more difficult to upgrade with about 28% compliant. We do however operate those services with dial a ride type vehicles with accessibility access and assistance available where required.
Primary Corridors = 230 bus stops with only 7 stops awaiting updating None primary corridors = 390 bus stops with 140 still to be updated.
Rural Routes = 36 bus stops with only 10 compliant at present.
Of the remaining 214 bus stops, these are presently unserved by any regular services though a small number are still used by school services only. Those work out as...
180 unserved
34 by school services only.
Of all of these, only about 10% are compliant due to being historic.
Should any services return to these routes, they will become eligible for future upgrading.
