Dear Sir/ Madam
Environmental Information Regulations 2004 I can confirm that the information requested is held by Lambeth Council. I have detailed
below the information that is being released to you.
Your request
Dear Lambeth Borough Council,
we leaseholders on South Lambeth estate have recently been advised that you intend
awarding a contract to Safeplay Playground Services for provision of maintenance to
our children's playground. However, we are also advised the playground will be
demolished as part of the phased regeneration of South Lambeth estate.
This is now on hold due to Homes for Lambeth folding.
The outline planning was granted some years ago. We are advised the next phases are
being re-designed, so why would you award a contract, when the new design has not
been produced?
Our response
The contract for the inspection, repairs, Installation, and maintenance of play areas is a
borough wide contract covering all ball games areas, outdoor gyms , play areas and
other play equipment on housing land. The play areas are inspected 4 times a year and
any repairs carried out, if a play area is no longer in use, it is taken off the list and if a
play area is installed it is added to the list. We would respect any guarantee periods for
new equipment. The play area on South Lambeth Estate is currently in use so will need
regular inspections. Once this changes we would take it off the site list and add any
new play areas created as and when they are installed. Leaseholders would not be
charged if there are no play areas in operation on the estate. This contract has
sufficient flexibility to accommodate the changes.
