Reason for closing second entrance to Wandle Park tram stop

The request was successful.

Dear Transport for London,

I would like to know the reasons why the second entrance to Wandle Park tram stop has been fenced off. There is already a crossing in place as well as an Oyster reader and signs, implying that an open entrance/crossing has been considered in the past.

Please reply with:

- details (meeting minutes, emails etc) of the decision to close the entrance, including reasons for doing so
- any correspondence received or sent since January 2016 with any party regarding the opening and/or closing of this entrance, including correspondence to/from any staff or contractors tasked with closing/fencing off the entrance each time the existing fencing in that area has been damaged/cut by third parties

Yours faithfully,

Ruben Arakelyan

Dear Mr Arakelyan

TfL Ref: 2159-1617

Thank you for your email received by us 6 February 2017 asking for
information about the Wandle Park Tramlink entrance.

Your request has been considered in accordance with the requirements of
the Freedom of Information Act and our information access policy. I can
confirm that we hold some of the information you require. Your request is
as follows:

I would like to know the reasons why the second entrance to Wandle Park
tram stop has been fenced off. There is already a crossing in place as
well as an Oyster reader and signs, implying that an open
entrance/crossing has been considered in the past.

Please reply with:

- details (meeting minutes, emails etc) of the decision to close the
entrance, including reasons for doing so

- any correspondence received or sent since January 2016 with any party
regarding the opening and/or closing of this entrance, including
correspondence to/from any staff or contractors tasked with
closing/fencing off the entrance each time the existing fencing in that
area has been damaged/cut by third parties

I can advise that this is currently not an authorised tram stop entrance
because it is an Engineering Crossing for maintenance staff only and not
compliant with public access. The Oyster reader and signage were installed
when the Oyster card scheme was launched and prior to when we took over
the running of Tram services in 2008.

The Engineering Crossing will be removed in the near future following an
assessment of this vicinity. We are developing a plan for a compliant
Public Crossing at this location, which is funded in the 2017/18 financial
yearly budget and will be delivered later this year.

Please find attached the London Borough of Croydon’s proposal for this
crossing, which is the only correspondence we hold.

If this is not the information you are looking for, or if you are unable
to access it for any reason, please do not hesitate to contact me.

Please see the attached information sheet for details of your right to
appeal as well as information on copyright and what to do if you would
like to re-use any of the information we have disclosed.

Yours sincerely
