Dear North and Mid Wales Trunk Road Agent
I refer you to a section of the TRA40, this between the villages of Trecastle and Sennybridge in Powys.
The section in question has one lane closed, with temporary traffic signals in place. Would you kindly advise as to what is the current status of this site as of July 2019.
My specific queries being.
1- What is the original reason/cause for the restrictions that are currently in place?
2- What is the timescale for any remedial works required to effect a conclusion, and thus facillitate the full reopening of the road at the earliest opportunity?
I appreciate your help and information, and look forward to your reply.
Dear Christopher Rees,
Thank you for your enquiry. Please find our responses below:-
1) What is the original reason/cause for the restrictions that are
currently in place? = A landslip of the highway embankment undermining a
supporting retaining wall. The westbound lane has been closed off to live
traffic for safety reasons and to remove highway traffic loading from near
the edge of the embankment so as not to cause further deterioration and
substantial failure of the embankment.
2) What is the timescale for any remedial works required to effect a
conclusion, and thus facilitate the full reopening of the road at the
earliest opportunity? = Were are currently unable to confirm the timescale
for removing the restrictions at this location. Investigation and
feasibility works are currently taking place to identify and assess the
cause of the problem and provide appropriate repair options.
